סקלי. לאחר פטירתו של חמיו ירש הרב אבן כליפא את כל רכושו. בשנות השבעים הגיע הספר לא\"י בעקבות מאמציו שנעשו על ידי הגאון רבי אליהו פנחס פרדס רבה הראשי של ירושלים. \n \n \n מכיוון שהרב בן כליפא לא התגורר ב'דבדו', ולעומתו חותנו הקדוש התגורר כשלושים וחמש שנים שם, הרי שספר התורה שלפנינו היה ברשותו של הגאון הקדוש והמקובל האלוקי רבי דוד הכהן סקאלי, וממנו עבר יחד עם כל ירושתו לחתנו כאמור. הנחה זו מבארת גם את פעולותיו של הרב פרדס לגאול את הספר המיוחד משביית הגולה ולהעלותו לארץ ישראל. \n \n \n  \n \n \n העיר דבדו הינה עיירה בצפון מזרח מרוקו והתפרסמה בעיקר בשל הקהילה היהודית הייחודית שחיה בה. רוב רובם של בני הקהילה נמנו על שבט הכהונה והשתייכו למספר בתי אב מסועפים. בשל כך נקראה דבדו גם בשם 'עיר הכהנים'. כמו\"כ התפרסמה הקהילה בסופרי הסת\"ם הרבים שנמנו עליה והצטיינו בכתב ידם הייחודי האופייני. \n \n \n  \n \n \n הגה\"ק רבי דוד הכהן סקאלי (תרכ\"ב \u2013 תש\"ט) רב גאון ומקובל נודע, אב\"ד באלג'יר ומח\"ס רבים. \n \n \n רבינו נולד בעיר הכהנים 'דבדו' לאביו רבי משה הכהן סקלי, למד אצל רבי אברהם בן סוסאן אצל רבי אהרן הכהן, נוגע בגאונותו וצדקותו, עסק רבות בקבלה ונהג בסיגופים ומנהגי פרישות, עמד בקשרים הדוקים עם רבני א\"י ורבני צפון אפריקה. בשנת תרע\"ג החל לכהן כדיין בעיר אוראן ומאוחר יותר הפך לאב בית הדין בעיר. אופן הסתלקותו מן העולם היה פלאי ביותר, הוא כינס את בני קהילתו בביתו, ביקש שיטלו את ידיו ועטף עצמו בתכריכים, או אז נשא דרשת פרידה מהנוכחים ובכלותו את דבריו נסתלק לבית עולמו. \n \n \n מהגותו
